SSTL announces the successful launch of UK in-orbit demonstrator satellite, TechDemoSat-1

Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) today announced the successful launch of TechDemoSat-1, an in-orbit technology demonstration mission for innovative UK spacecraft equipment and software. The spacecraft was launched into 635km sun-synchronous orbit on board a Soyuz-2 launch vehicle with a Fregat upper stage from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 15:58:28 UTC yesterday, 8 July 2014.

SSTL announces the successful launch of KazEOSat-2

Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) today announced the successful launch of KazEOSat-2, a medium resolution Earth observation satellite for the Republic of Kazakhstan, at UTC 19:11:1. The spacecraft was launched into a 630km sun-synchronous orbit on board a DNEPR rocket from Yasny in Russia.

ESA selects SSTL to design Exoplanet satellite mission

Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) has been selected by the European Space Agency (ESA) for the competitive design phase of CHEOPS science satellite, which will improve mankind’s understanding of exoplanets - planets orbiting distant stars outside our solar system. The contractor selection for the implementation phase is planned by mid-2014 and the launch is scheduled late 2017.

SSTL signs contract for collaborative mission with Kazakhstan

A contract was signed today between Sir Martin Sweeting, Executive Chairman of Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) and Mr Amanzhol Jaimurzin, General Director of JV Ghalam LLP, for the collaborative design and development of the Kazak Science and Technology satellite system. Ghalam LLP is a joint venture between JSC "National Company Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary" (KGS) and EADS Astrium.
