DMCii launches Global Forest Monitoring service for REDD+

As the 18th Commonwealth Forestry Conference is about to begin in Edinburgh, DMCii has launched a new service specifically tailored to help in the fight to conserve global forests. DMCii’s Global Forest Monitoring service uses satellite imagery to produce easily-understood maps of forest cover change. Uniquely, the service’s wide-area forest surveys can be updated annually, monthly - or more often still for areas judged most at risk – delivering the timely data necessary for operational management.

British satellite imaging company DMCii welcomes International Development Secretary Douglas Alexander’s announcement that the UK has joined forces with the Indonesian government to tackle deforestation and prepare Indonesians for the impacts of climate change.

Un système d'observation depuis l'espace pour cartographier les forêts tropicales du Congo et leur évolution

La société britannique DMCii s'appuie sur des satellites pour obtenir, depuis l'espace, de nouvelles images des forêts tropicales du Congo, dans le cadre d'un système capable de cartographier chaque année le Bassin du Congo pour évaluer les changements de sa couverture forestière. S'il est adopté, le nouveau système permettra de fournir des informations plus précises et à jour pour la gestion des forêts, la définition de politiques et l'exécution de programmes tels que le programme de réduction des émissions provenant de la déforestation et de la dégradation des forêts, ou REDD+, de l'ONU dans la région.

Eyes in space map changing Congo rainforests

British company DMCii is using satellites to acquire new images of the Congo rainforests from space, validating a system that can map the vast Congo Basin every year to measure changes in its forest cover. If adopted, the new system will provide more accurate and up to date information for forest management, policy making and programmes such as the UN’s Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) throughout the region.

DMCii 22m multi-spectral imagery goes on sale

Remote sensing solutions provider DMCii has introduced 22m imagery to its geospatial image library, complementing its extensive 32m imagery. The new data offers double the number of image pixels per hectare to boost the effectiveness of the DMC system for precision agriculture and deforestation monitoring.

DMCii satellite imagery approved by US Department of Agriculture

Remote sensing solutions provider DMCii has [today] been approved as a supplier of satellite imagery to the Office of Global Analysis, USDA, Foreign Agricultural Service (OGA USDA FAS) through its procurement agency Arctic Slope Regional Corporation (ASRC).
